This 4 Year MA course is an in-depth training in Core Process Psychotherapy that combines mindfulness practice and joint enquiry and leads to full professional qualifications and accreditation. Comprising residential weekends and five-day modules over a three-year period, this training supports a particularly integrated immersion in the work and practice of Core Process Psychotherapy.
In accordance with Middlesex University requirements, students are then allowed a further non-taught year when they do not attend the Institute, to comply with graduation requirements including writing the requisite Dissertation.
Building on the base developed in the prerequisite foundation training, or equivalent, it presents a mindfulness-based form of psychotherapy, which assumes inherent health within all aspects of experience. The course offers a profound opportunity to investigate in depth the nature of suffering and to develop capacities of compassion and wisdom in relationship.
The process of offering a contemplative approach to psychotherapy is facilitated through lectures and skills practice within the context of personal, interpersonal and group enquiry. Given that this Training emphasises the fundamental interconnectedness of our individual experience, one major learning vehicle comprises developing the skills to enquire jointly into relationship itself at depth. The training group learns to cultivate and deepen awareness as a primary psychotherapeutic and transformational tool. The taught component of this course comprises three years. Students begin to see clients in the second year in public placements. At the point of graduation you will gain a masters degree validated by Middlesex University. Our new accreditation with BACP means that students are able to register with BACP at the point of graduation. From that point students are able to enter the BACP accreditation process. Students can also then continue through our clinical pathway and achieve accreditation with UKCP as Psychotherapists. For many years students have found our four year MA provides a life changing journey which has lead to both profound personal transformation as well as professional qualifications. We aim to support you through this journey on the path towards a truly meaningful and compassionate professional engagement.
Students attend the Institute for block periods of study spread over the relevant period of the training. All students leave the Institute at the end of each block study period and in the case of overseas students, return to their country of origin.
