Course Description:

As the global ecological and social crisis deepens there is an urgent need for therapists to help their clients to find inspiration, hope and appropriate ways of living in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds at both personal and planetary levels.

During this course we explore Gaia theory, holistic science and deep ecology to widen and expand our sense belonging to the more-than-human world so that we can better help our clients to find meaning, healing and well-being in deep experiences of profound love and belonging to Gaia: the great planetary being in which we are all indissolubly enfolded and embedded.

Throughout the course we use our sensing, feeling and intuition combined with intellectual enquiry to explore our deep connectedness with the world of nature. We encounter the living qualities of our planet through Stephan’s radical approach to ecology, Gaia and healing practices in which he combines science with depth psychology, alchemy, Buddhist meditation and expeditions into the wild landscapes of Dartmoor to help us find a fruitful and peaceful place within our planet’s ancient and wildly creative evolutionary journey.

Deep ecology work inspired by Joana Macey and Arne Naess will help us to integrate and distil our transformative experiences of Gaia as our larger, wider body and psyche into our own personal ecological wisdom to help us nurture and support both the wider world of nature and the people who have called out to us for love and care.
